If ever there is truth in the belief that a spirit is repeatedly reborn, this painting embodies what that process might feel like. Brush strokes depict the existence of guidance during the process. Tinges of green invoke a sense of the peaceful presence of those ready to lend support in such transitions.
Is this a passage of life from mother to child? Is this an angel extending a caring hand, as the newly arrived takes uncertain and tentative steps? What is clear is the smile of appreciation and, just as evident, the swirling awe of first awareness.
This scene invokes the realization that any form of newness – in the beginnings, traversing a span of time and the endings – need not be feared. Trusting in the repetitions of life’s cycle can serve to comfort as we commence the differing phases of our journeys.
The artist has done a wonderful job. For, when extending an embrace and enfolding others in assurances, a message is spoken – “Your steps are supported. You will not flounder.” – And truly, why should we expect any less.

While heading across tumultuous, hot terrain, a large outline of a figure seems to express the embodiment of toil and motion amidst changing seasons and times…a small nameless soul is also carried along, possibly even unwillingly, in this undertaking or journey. And that inner person, in so being swept up, may represent how each of us feels overwhelmed, at some point in our lives.
The external surface forces may represent the nature of a political or environmental state – moving forward, as one body, with the voice and identify of the individual swallowed up, lost, and unheard in the determinations of the larger whole.
This piece reminds us that so much of what we see, in any exterior, is so often not the whole of the thing – not the significant nut of the issue. Much of what is proffered as fact may really be an abundance of fiction. This piece speaks to the need to dig, question and examine closely what is initially perceived or invoked. There is always more to learn about a person, topic or point of view. Always.

With a hint of fluttered wings, a magnificent creature stands upon a world he seems to have declared “mine”. While brooding the fates, he has even paused the planet in its very axis of motion. Will he restore its orbit while he rides atop?
Options just swirl about this formidable soul. Capable of both anger and grace, considerations are clearly underway. Wishing to avoid the wrath that could be delivered in the swift stroke of his staff, folks gather a respectful distance in anticipation.
There is the murmur of speculation. Will there be sunshine or rapturous thunder roll, a stark chill winter or breathtaking haze-tinged sunset? To risk gazing upon him, while he is in the midst of invocating such power, is to risk experiencing awe of the universe.
Appreciation of that will instill the desire to visit this mighty fellow again and again. To touch the face of such inspiration every day would be heady indeed.
